Let \(X\) be the blow-up of \(\mathbb P^2\) at nine general points. The present paper deals with smooth curves \(C\) contained in \(X\), which are strict transforms of irreducible plane curves singular at all those nine points. The author focuses on the behaviour of the Gauss-Wahl map \({\Phi}_K: {\bigwedge}^2 H^0(C,\omega_C)\longrightarrow H^0(C,{\omega_C}^3)\) relative to the canonical line bundle. Recent works proved that the surface \(X\) contains in particular certain curves of arbitrary genus called Du Val curves, which under suitable assumptions are Brill-Noether-Petri general (see [\textit{E. Arbarello} et al., Comment. Math. Helv. 91, No. 3, 477--491 (2016; Zbl 1354.14050)]) and that for general such curves of odd genus \(\geq 11\) the corank of \({\Phi}_K\) is exactly one (see [\textit{E. Arbarello} and \textit{A. Bruno}, J. Éc. Polytech., Math. 4, 257--285 (2017; Zbl 1368.14050)]). The main goal of the paper is to show a large class of curves beside Du Val curves, contained in \(X\) and strict transforms of irreducible plane curves singular at all the nine blown up points, such that the corank of \({\Phi}_K\) is one. The method followed by the Author to compute the corank of \({\Phi}_K\) consists in viewing \({\Phi}_K\) as a composition of a suitable Gauss map on \(X\) with two other maps defined on \(X\); for an analogous strategy see [\textit{J. Duflot} and \textit{R. Miranda}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 330, No. 1, 447--459 (1992; Zbl 0769.14011)] and [\textit{C. Ciliberto} et al., in: Complex analysis and algebraic geometry. A volume in memory of Michael Schneider. Berlin: Walter de Gruyter. 155--163 (2000; Zbl 1067.14506)].
