    The authors consider the plate problem using a discontinuous Galerkin method. Their main aim is to derive optimal a priori error estimates in various norms and investigate locking phenomena when certain stabilization parameters tend to infinity. The relations of the method to the nonconforming Morley element and to \(C^1\) Argyris element are briefly discussed, and a numerical example is presented.
