Finite \(W\)-algebras, are algebras constructed from a pair \((\mathfrak{g}, \mathfrak{e})\), where \(\mathfrak{e}\) is a nilpotent element of a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{g}\). Their theory has been extensively studied during the last decade. On the other hand, the so called infinitesimal Cherednik algebras of type \(\mathfrak{gl}_n\) and \(\mathfrak{sp}_{2n}\), are introduced by Etingof, Gan, and Ginzburg see [\textit{P. Etingof} et al., Transform. Groups 10, No. 3--4, 423--447 (2005; Zbl 1115.20005)]. These are certain continuous analogues of the rational Cherednik algebras and in the case of \(\mathfrak{gl}_n\) are deformations of the universal enveloping algebra \(U(sl_{n+1})\). The paper under review the authors establish an isomorphism between universal infinitesimal Cherednik algebras and \(W\)-algebras for Lie algebras of the same type and \(1\)-block nilpotent elements. As a consequence some fundamental results about infinitesimal Cherednik algebras are obtained.
