A generalization of simple wavelet sets for matrix dilations in \(\mathbb{R}^2\) presented by the author [Numer. Funct. Anal. Optim. 33, No. 7--9, 1112--1125 (2012; Zbl 1254.42047)] is proposed for \(n\geq 2\) space dimensions. Notched cubes tiles of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) introduced by \textit{S. Stein} [Discrete Math. 80, No. 3, 335--337 (1990; Zbl 0747.05028)] are the basis to construct notched parallelotopes which yield wavelet sets for dilation by negative scalars. Counterexamples to the conjecture that wavelet sets for dilation by 2 cannot be finite unions of convex sets are given. Examples for wavelet sets in any dimension for dilation by a real scalar larger than 1 are also constructed.
