For the class of Cullen-regular functions of a quaternionic variable, the authors study the structure of their zeros. Using a different notion of multiplication denoted by ``regular multiplication'' between regular functions, they obtain a factorization result and describe the zero set of a regular product in terms of the zero sets of the two factors. Furthermore, it is proved that all quaternionic polynomials have a regular factorization in the sense of the classical algebraic theory and that the sum of the multiplicities of the zeros of a polynomial does not need to be equal to its degree.
