The author gives a finite sum representation of the Lauricella function \(F_{D}(a,b_{1},\dots b_{n};c ; x_{1},\dots x_{n})\) of \(n\) variables, for \(a,b_{1},\dots,b_{n},c\) positive integers with \(c-a\geq 1\) for all \(x_{1},\dots,x_{n}\). This result generalizes Tan-Zhou's result [\textit{J. Tan} and \textit{P. Zhou}, Adv. Comput. Math. 23, No. 4, 333--351 (2005; Zbl 1074.33013)] concerning the case in which \(x_{1},\dots,x_{n}\) are distinct. As a direct consequence he obtains the transcendence property of the values of the Lauricella function.
