In this paper, the author deals with graded commutative algebras of arbitrary dimension over an arbitrary field, by focussing on their structures. Indeed, he considers a commutative algebra \(\mathcal{A}\) graded by means of an abelian group \(G\) and he shows that, under certain conditions, the simplicity of \(\mathcal{A}\) is characterized and also proves that \(\mathcal{A}\) is the direct sum of the family of its minimal graded ideals, each one being a simple graded commutative algebra. To do this, he starts from \(\Sigma = \{g \in G\mid \mathcal{A}_g \neq 0\},\) where \(\mathcal{A} = \bigoplus_{g \in G} \, \mathcal{A}_g\) and defines \(\Sigma_0 := \{g \in G \backslash \{0\} : \mathcal{A}_g \neq 0\}\), and he calls \(\Sigma_0 \subset \Sigma\) a \textit{subsupport} if it verifies certain conditions. He introduces the concepts of \textit{maximal length} and \(\Sigma\)-\textit{multiplicativity} in the framework of graded commutative algebras in a similar way than in the frameworks of graded Lie algebras, graded Leibniz algebras, graded Lie superalgebras and other types of graded algebras, concluding that the results shown in the paper can be applied in particular to the frameworks of graded Jordan and graded Lie algebras.
