The authors introduce a new concept of a \(L\)-KKM mapping and establish \(L\)-KKM type theorems. The notion of KKM mappings was first introduced by \textit{B. Knaster, K. Kuratowski} and \textit{S. Mazurkiewicz} [Fund. Math. 14, 132--137 (1929; JFM 55.0972.01)] in finite dimensional spaces and generalized in the last years in infinite dimensional spaces, using also purely topological notions. In the present paper, the new version of \(L\)-KKM mappings has the advantage to work without any convexity structure in topological spaces. A set valued mapping \(G:X\to 2^Y\) of a non empty set \(X\) into the parts of a topological set \(Y\) is said to be a generalized \(L\)-KKM mapping if for any non-empty \(\{x_0,\dots,x_n\}\subset X\) there exists a semicontinuous map \(\varphi_N:\Delta_n\to 2^Y\) (\(\Delta_n\) is the standard \(n\)-dimensional simplex) such that \[ \varphi_N(\text{co}(e_{i_0},\dots,e_{i_k}))\subset \bigcup_{j=0}^k G(x_{i_j}) \] for each \(\{e_{i_0},\dots,e_{i_k}\}\subset \{e_0,\ldots,e_n\}\). For such mappings, generalized versions of KKM type theorems are proved; the paper ends with an application of such results giving an existence result of the equilibrium point of the abstract generalized vector equilibrium problem.
