Integral operators of Urysohn-Stieltjes type (Q2495699): Difference between revisions

The authors study some properties of the nonlinear Urysohn-Stieltjes operator of the form \[ (Ux)(t)=\int_a^b u(t,s,x(s))d_sg(t,s),\;\;t\in I, \] where \(I=[a,b]\). They prove that under suitable assumptions on \(u\) and \(g\), \(U\) is continuous and completely continuous on the space \(C(I)\) and the function \(Ux\) is nondecreasing and of bounded variation on \(I\). Moreover, the solvability of the equation \[ x=m+Ux, \] with \(m\in C(I)\), is established via Schauder's fixed point theorem.
