\textit{S. Jackowski}'s simple proof of the ``Subgroup lemma'' for varieties of modules [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 33, 49-58 (1984; Zbl 0546.55008)] contained a gap which the authors here fill in by presenting a similar simpler argument.
