The author continues the project of \textit{M. Dichtl} [``Astroids and pastings'', Algebra Univers. 18, 380--385 (1984; Zbl 0546.06007)], where conditions were given for a family of finite Boolean algebras to form a chain-finite orthomodular lattice. Here, similar questions are studied for orthomodular posets. Instead of this traditional point of view, these structures are equivalently described as orthomodular partial algebras. In contrast to previous works, the author studies also posets which are not chain-finite, although some results assume that blocks are generated by atoms. Interesting examples help to understand what can work differently when we admit infinite Boolean algebras. The author worked in isolation from other experts in the field, thus a comparison and reformulation of some theorems would be helpful. Nevertheless, it is a deep study which succeeded to extend our knowledge of the subject after many years of stagnation.
