\textit{W. Kalau} and \textit{M. Walze} [J. Geom. Phys. 16, No. 4, 327--344 (1995; Zbl 0826.58008)] and \textit{D. Kastler} [Commun. Math. Phys. 166, No. 3, 633--643 (1995; Zbl 0823.58046)] provided a formula connecting Dirac operator and Einstein-Hilbert action on a compact manifold, in terms of the noncommutative residue of Wodzicki. Here the authors give a corresponding general formula in \(\mathbb R^n\), \(n\geq 4\), endowed with a suitable Riemannian metric \(g\) and corresponding induced measure \(dx\) and scalar curvature \(s(x)\). They consider a generalized positive Laplacian \(\Delta=\nabla^*\nabla+ K\), defined on a Hermitian vector bundle \(E\) with connection \(\nabla\), where \(K\) is a symmetric endomorphism. Considering in particular the Atiyah-Singer Dirac operator \(\mathbb{D}\) and \(\mathbb{D}^2_\lambda= \mathbb{D}^*\mathbb{D}+\lambda I\), the formula is as follows: \[ \text{res}((\mathbb D^2_\lambda)^{-n/2+ 1})= {(n-2)2^{[n/2]}\over (n/2)(4\pi)^{n/2}}\,\Biggl(-{1\over 12} \int s(x)\,dx-\lambda \int \,dx\Biggr). \] The proof is given by using the SG-pseudodifferential calculus of \textit{H. O. Cordes} [Lond. Math. Soc. Lect. Note Ser. 202, 382 p. (1995; Zbl 0828.35145)].
