The author defines the generalized Witten zeta function for \(sl(2)\) as \[ \zeta_{sl(2)}(s;\alpha )=\sum\limits_{n=1}^\infty \frac{e^{2\pi in\alpha }}{n^s},\quad 0<\alpha \leq 1. \] The definitions of the generalized multiple zeta functions \(\zeta_{sl(3)}\) and \(\zeta_{sl(4)}\) [\textit{D. Zagier}, in Values of zeta functions and their applications. First European congress of mathematics (ECM), Paris, France, 1992. Volume II: Invited lectures (Part 2). Basel: Birkhäuser. Prog. Math. 120, 497--512 (1994; Zbl 0822.11001)] for the definition of and a discussion on the Witten zeta functions associated with Lie algebras) are more cumbersome but based on the same idea of inserting additional exponential factors. The author finds functional relations for these zeta functions containing, as special cases, some known relations for double zeta values. The approach is based on a new relation for the double Lerch values.
