A special case (called ''inverse problem'') of the Sanchez problem of fuzzy relational equations is treated. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution are shown. The construction of the solution of the inverse problem is described. A method for the improvement of the solution is proposed. See also the paper by \textit{Chen Yijiang} in BUSEFAL 20, 84-89 (1984; Zbl 0559.04006).
