The author studies games with not necessarily continuous payoff functions. The special space \({\mathcal G}\) of such games is introduced: there exists a dense subset \({\mathcal G}'\subset{\mathcal G}\) such that every game from \({\mathcal G}'\) has an essential Nash equilibrium. The results are proved with the aid of the Ky Fan minimax inequality and Fort theorem on continuity points of set-valued functions. In the setting of potential games the space \({\mathcal G}\) consists of games, the potentials of which satisfy a weak upper pseudocontinuity condition.
