The authors present a preliminary development of an indirect finite element method for the Dirichlet boundary value problem of a 1D one-sided conservative fractional diffusion equations with variable coefficient. Convergence rates of the numerical algorithm are discussed under some regularity assumptions on coefficients and source term.
