The authors study compact, or complete, spacelike hypersurfaces having constant normalized scalar curvature in locally symmetric \((n+1)\)-dimensional Lorentzian manifold. Their primary results are an optimal estimate for the squared norm of the second fundamental form, and a characterization of totally umbilical hypersurfaces.
