Topological properties of fuzzy numbers were examined, e.g., by \textit{R. Goetschel jun.} and \textit{W. Voxman} [Fuzzy Sets Syst. 10, 87-99 (1983; Zbl 0521.54001)]. This paper discusses when a metric on the set of fuzzy numbers in \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) is equivalent to the product of metrics on the set of fuzzy sets in \(\mathbb{R}\).
