    The paper deals with linear homogeneous first-order hyperbolic system in one space variable \[ \partial_t u_j + a_j(x,t) \partial_x u_j + \sum_{k=1}^n b_{jk}(x,t) u_k = 0, \;(x,t) \in \mathbb R^2,\;j = 1,\dots,n, \] with bounded, continuous, and \(1\)-periodic in \(x\) coefficients and periodic boundary conditions \[ u_j(x+1,t) = u_j(x,t), \;(x,t) \in \mathbb R^2,\;j = 1,\dots,n. \] The authors give explicit conditions on the coefficients \(a_j\) and \(b_{jk}\) such that corresponding evolution operator has an exponential dichotomy on the axis in \(t\) in the space of continuous periodic functions.
