In the paper under review the authors introduce two new ellipsoids associated to, either a convex body \(K\) containing the origin as an interior point, or a star body \(L\). Accurately, they define the ellipsoids \(\Lambda_{-2}K\) and \(\Lambda_2L\) via their radial and support functions, respectively, as \[ \rho_{_{\Lambda_{-2}K}}(x)^{-2}=\frac{1}{V(K)}\int_{S^{n-1}}[x,v]^2\frac{1}{h_K(v)}dS(K,v) \] and \[ h_{\Lambda_2L}(x)^2=\frac{n+2}{V(L)}\int_L[x,y]^2dy. \] Here \([x,y]\) denotes the \(2\)-dimensional volume of the parallelepiped generated by \(x,y\), \(V\) is the volume functional and \(S(K,\cdot)\) is the classical surface area measure of \(K\). Then, the authors prove volume inequalities for these new ellipsoids. More precisely, they show that \[ V(\Lambda_{-2}K)\leq(n-1)^{-n/2}V(K)\quad\text{and}\quad V(\Lambda_2L)\geq(n-1)^{n/2}V(L), \] with equality, in both inequalities, if and only if \(K\) (respectively, \(L\)) is either a \(0\)-symmetric ellipsoid when \(n=2\), or a \(0\)-centered ball when \(n\geq 3\). Some valuation properties are also proved for both ellipsoids.
