    The author gives a simplified proof of the results of \textit{A. Granville} and \textit{K. Ono} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 348, 331-347 (1996; Zbl 0855.20007)] and of \textit{K. Ono} [Acta Arith. 66, 221-228 (1994; Zbl 0793.11027)] that if \(t\geq 4\), then every natural number has at least one \(t\)-core.
