Consider the non-degenerate Hermitian surface \({\mathcal H} := {\mathcal H} (3,q^2)\) of PG\((3,q)\). The intersection of \({\mathcal H}\) with a non-tangent plane of \({\mathcal H}\) is called a classical ovoid of \({\mathcal H} \). Non-classical ovoids of \({\mathcal H}\) have been found in 1994 by \textit{S. Payne} and \textit{J. A. Thas} [Geom. Dedicata 52, No. 3, 227--253 (1994; Zbl 0804.51007)]. More recently, new large families of non-classical ovoids have been found in 2004 by \textit{A. Cossidente, G. L. Ebert} [Eur. J. Comb. 25, No. 7, 1059--1066 (2004; Zbl 1059.51007)] and in 2003 by \textit{G. Korchmáros} and the author [Adv. Geom. 2003, Spec. Issue, S49--S58 (2003; Zbl 1064.51003)]. Using the well-known method of (multiple) derivation, the author provides a geometric construction of a family of non-classical ovoids and determines their corresponding collineation groups.
