The paper presents an analytical expression for calculating sap velocity using a fractional approach. A two-dimensional heat conduction is considered to model the heat flow in a tree trunk. The temperature profile of the sap is assumed in terms of the Mittag-Leffer function. The calculation of the sap velocity in standing trees is based on the temperature profile of the tree, measured experimentally. The paper lacks appropriate thermodynamic analysis to correlate the sap velocity with the temperature profile.
