The authors deal with the existence of a weak solution of the boundary value problem \[ L_\mu u= f(u)\quad\text{in }\Omega,\quad u= 0\quad\text{on }\partial\Omega, \] where \(L_\mu\) is the Hardy-Sobolev operator on \(W^{1,p}_0(\Omega)\) defined by \[ L_\mu:= -\Delta_p u- {\mu\over [d(x)]^p}| u|^{p-2} u, \] \(\Delta_p u:= \text{div}(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)\), \(0< \mu< {p\over(p-1)^p}\), \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain with smooth boundary in \(\mathbb{R}^k\), \(1< k< N\). To this end the authors use a mountain-pass lemma and the concentration of compactness principle.
