Three notions of pseudometric and pseudodistance on domains in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) based on some well-known polynomial inequalities are discussed. They expand some notions which are introduced by the authors in an earlier paper [in: Advances in constructive approximation: Vanderbilt 2003. Proceedings of the international conference, Nashville, TN, USA, May 14--17, 2003. Brentwood, TN: Nashboro Press. Modern Methods in Mathematics, 133--147 (2004; Zbl 1068.41022)]. Some relationships among these pseudodistances for a general domain \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^N\) and certain properties (monotonicity, invariance, etc.) are established. It is shown that all three pseudometrics coincide when \(\overline{\Omega}\) is a symmetric convex body in \(\mathbb{R}^N\). The corresponding pseudodistances coincide under some restrictions on symmetric convex bodies in \(\mathbb{R}^2\).
