This paper works in the category of quasi-Banach function spaces, considered as modules over a fixed \(L_\infty\) space. The first result is that the multiplication operator defined on two such spaces actually produces their tensor product. A simple example shows that this is not true in the category of Banach function spaces, considered as modules over \(L_\infty\); so the setting of quasi-Banach spaces is both natural and necessary. After a study of centralizers, it is shown that for any short exact sequence \(0 \to Y \to X \to Z \to0\) in this category, and any quasi-Banach module \(V\) over the same \(L_\infty\) space, the sequence \(0 \to Y\otimes V \to X\otimes V \to Z\otimes V \to0\) is also exact. A further example shows that this fails in the category of Banach function modules.
