Frege's permutation argument (Q1097250): Difference between revisions

The paper concerns a technical argument adduced by Frege in section 10 of his Grundgesetze. Peter Schroeder-Heister has reconstructed this argument model-theoretically and argued that it does not establish its conclusion which is, in any case, false. We argue that this reconstruction goes awry. Frege's argument can be reconstructed model-theoretically, but in such a way that it appears as a perfectly sound demonstration of its conclusion.
