Given a metric continuum \(X\), let \(C(X)\) be the hyperspace of subcontinua of \(X\), with the Hausdorff metric. For each proper subcontinuum \(A\) of \(X\), the author considers the boundary \(Bd(C(A))\) of \(C(A)\) in \(C(X)\). In this paper, the author studies the sets of the form \(Bd(C(A))\). She starts proving that \(Bd(C(A))\) is always arcwise connected, so \(Bd(C(A))\) is a subcontinuum of \(C(X)\). Then it makes sense to study the topological properties of the continua \(Bd(C(A))\). The author gives conditions under which \(Bd(C(A))\) is locally connected and also she finds conditions under which it is unicoherent. For example she proves that \(X\) is an arc or a simple closed curve if and only if for each continuum \(Z\) containing \(X\) as a proper subcontinuum \(Bd(C(X))\) is locally connected. She also gives conditions under which \(Bd(C(A))\) coincides with the set of subcontinua of \(A\) intersecting the boundary of \(A\) in \(X\).
