The authors prove two main results. The first gives the Lefschetz number of a continuous map \(f:M\rightarrow M\) for \(M\) an infra-nilmanifold with holonomy group \(\psi\): \(L(f)={1\over |\psi |}\Sigma_{A \in \psi}{{ \det(A_* -f_*)}\over {\det(A_*) }}\). And the Nielsen number is \(N(f)= {1\over |\psi |}\Sigma_{A \in \psi}|\det(A_*-f_*)|\). The second result is a generalization of the main result of [\textit{R. Tauraso}, Monatsh. Math. 128, 151--157 (1999; Zbl 0988.37053)]: Let \(M\) be any \(n\)-dimensional infra-nilmanifold. Then for every expanding self map \(f\) on \(M\), there exists a periodic point whose least period is exactly \(m\), for all \(m \geq m_0\) where \(m_0\) is an integer depending only on the dimension of \(M\).
