    Consider traveling wave solutions \(u(x,t)= u(x-ct)\) of the partial differential equation \[ u_t+ uu_x+ bu_{xxx}- a(u_t+ muu_x)_x= 0,\tag{\(*\)} \] where \(a\), \(b\), \(m\) are parameters satisfying \(a\geq 0\), \(b>0\), \(m\geq 0\). This problem leads to the qualitative study of the planar system \[ \begin{aligned} {dx\over d\xi} &= y,\\ {dy\over d\xi} &= {a\over b} (mx+ mc-c)y-{3\over 26} (x^2- c^2-2g),\end{aligned}\tag{\(**\)} \] where \(\xi= x-ct\), \(g\) is some integration constant. The authors investigate the phase portrait of \((**)\) in dependence of the parameters. Especially, they are interested in limit cycles, homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits defining traveling waves of \((*)\).
