The authors propose a least squares Galerkin finite element scheme for solving pseudohyperbolic equations. The main advantage of the method is that it is independent of the Ladyzenskaya-Babuska-Brezzi consistency condition, so the finite element space can be chosen more flexibly. The proposed method yields a symmetric and positive definite discrete system. \(L^2\) error analysis and numerical experiments are also provided.
