The authors study the construction of generating forms for exact volume-preserving maps of degree \((n-2)\) on an \(n\)-dimensional manifold. The related construction of generating functions is well known in the exact symplectic case. Examples of generating forms were given by \textit{M. M. Carroll} [Int. J. Non-Linear Mech. 39, No. 2, 219--224 (2004; Zbl 1348.35052)].
