The paper deals with the problem of tracing the intersection of two surfaces given either implicitely \((f_ i(x_ 1,x_ 2,x_ 3)=0\); \(i=1,2)\) or parametrically \((x_ j=g_{ji}(u_ i,v_ i)\); \(j=1,2,3\); \(i=1,2)\). The computational procedure involves a 3rd order Taylor approximation with variable steps followed by a Newton refinement procedure. For implicit plane curves \(f(x_ 1,x_ 2)=0\) a desingularization technique is also considered based on a classical result of Riemann and Cayley. The computer implementation of the proposed techniques is briefly discussed.
