The author introduces the notion of coset congruences, coset extensions and group coextensions for transformation semigroups (\(S\)-sets, where \(S\) is an arbitrary monoid, in the author's terminology). It is shown that the congruences contained in transitivity relations are coset congruences; that every coset congruence has a group valued Schützenberger functor; that every coset extension is a group coextension by its Schützenberger functor; and that group coextensions can be considered as in Schreier's Theorem by means of factor sets (when all groups in this construction are Abelian, this leads to a cohomology theory for transformation semigroups). If \(S\) is commutative, there are some additional nice properties.
