The authors consider the coincidence set \(coin(f_1, \ldots, f_k)\) of several maps \(f_i: X\to N\), \(i=1,\ldots, k\), i.e. the set consisting of points in \(X\) which are mapped to the same point by all \(f_i\). Here, \(N\) is an \(n\)-dimensional closed manifold but not necessarily orientable. The authors define an element \(L(f_1, \ldots, f_k)\) in the \(n(k-1)\)-dimensional cohomology group \(H^{n(k-1)}(X, \mathcal{F})\) of \(X\), where \(\mathcal{F}\) is some coefficient system depending on the \(f_i\)'s. This class is called by the authors the Lefschetz class, and it is proved to play a similar role as the Lefschetz number. If \(L(f_1, \ldots, f_k)\) is non-zero, then \(coin(f_1, \ldots, f_k)\) is non-empty. Some examples are given for these Lefschetz classes in case that the target \(N\) is \(\mathbb RP^n\). The authors also illustrate a relation among the Lefschetz classes: \(L(f_1, \ldots, f_k) = L(f_1, f_2) \cup\dots\cup L(f_1, f_k)\). Thus, the results in this paper generalize those in [\textit{C. Biasi} et al., Forum Math. 27, No. 3, 1717--1728 (2015; Zbl 1318.55003)], where the target \(N\) is orientable, and the Lefschetz class lies in the ordinary cohomology \(H^{n(k-1)}(X; \mathbb{Z})\).
