A two-scale finite elements method for elliptic problems with highly oscillatory periodic coefficients is considered in a bounded domain in two dimensions. The known two-scale methods generate the basis functions of the coarse grid finite dimensional space by solving numerically local problems with periodic boundary conditions. To avoid the nonconformity the authors propose a new procedure by an adding piecewise linear function and multiplying the local functions by a bubble (a known smooth function that vanishes at the boundary and goes quickly to 1 inside). This results to a new conforming two-scale finite element method. A study of the error analysis of such a two-scale method is presented. Further, a domain decomposition method for the corresponding algebraic system is presented and studied theoretically and numerically.
