A number of approximation results, which were originally proved on \(L_p(S^{d-1})\), \(1 \leq p \leq \infty\), where \(S^{d-1}\) is the unit sphere in \(R^d\), are extended to Banach spaces on the sphere for which operation by a \(d \times d\) orthogonal matrix is a continuous isometry. In Section 1, the concept of the spherical homogeneous Banach spaces (SHBS) is introduced. In Section 2, the Cesàro summability on a SHBS is defined and the boundedness and convergence result for it is stated. The proof is given in Section 3. Several immediate corollaries of the results of Sections 2 and 3 (for example, boundedness results for the Riesz summability and for the de la Vallée Poussin type operator) are described in Section 4. Extensions of theorems on multipliers and on averages on the rim of the cap of the sphere and their combinations are given in Section 5. Some applications of the results of Section 5 and further results are given in Section 6. In Section 7, some spaces of functions which are SHBS are discussed.
