The purpose of this paper is to study two schemes for a nonlinear scalar wave equation (in three space dimensions) which has localized solutions. The authors propose a finite element scheme and prove that when the mesh size tends to zero the approximate solution tends to the generalized solution of the nonlinear wave equation. Also the stability and the convergence of a difference scheme for smooth solutions with an error estimation is given.
