The paper describes a multigrid method for numerical simulation of fluid flows on general curvilinear grids. The scheme uses a novel staggered grid-based discretization, a line-coupled subdomain solution procedure, and tangential velocity unknowns. Thereby, the ordinary formulation of coarse-grid equations may result in inconsistent governing equations on fine and coarse grids, which reduces the multigrid efficiency. This problem is analyzed and a new method is proposed. Laminar flow calculations at Reynolds numbers between 50 and 1000 are presented to emphasize that the proposed method can significantly improve the multigrid convergence rate.
