When there are an outer and an inner iteration and both ones are convergent, one naturally expects that the convergence rate improves if the number of inner iterations is increased. The paper presents a counterexample for the iterative solution of linear equations that are associated to two matrix splittings. If one process is monotone and governed by an \(H\)-matrix, the convergence behaviour is indeed as expected.
