A unit speed curve \(X=X(s)\) in Euclidean \(m\)-space \({\mathbb E^m} (m\geq2)\) is a \textit{W-curve} (its Frenet curvatures are constant along \(X\)) if and only if each chord joining any two points of \(X(s)\), meets the curve at the same angle [\textit{B.-Y. Chen, D.-S. Kim} and \textit{Y. H. Kim}, Publ. Math. 69, No.~4, 457--472 (2006; Zbl 1121.53002)]. A second theorem characterizes isoparametric hypersurfaces (defined by constancy of the principal curvatures) by the fact, that each chord joining any two points of the hypersurface \(\Phi\), meets \(\Phi\) at the same angle [\textit{H. P. Boas}, Math. Ann. 248, 275--278 (1980; Zbl 0414.32002), Ill. J. Math. 28, 120--124 (1984; Zbl 0529.53004); \textit{B. Wegner}, Math. Balk., New Ser. 2, No.~4, 294--295 (1988; Zbl 0667.53004)]. The present paper gives new proofs of these theorems and further characterizations.
