This interesting paper contains further contributions to the analytic theory of arithmetical semigroups, developed by \textit{A. Geroldinger} and \textit{J. Kaczorowski} [Sémin. Théor. Nombres Bordx. (2) 4, No.~2, 199-238 (1992; Zbl 0780.11046)]. Theorem 1 provides a stronger form of a result by Geroldinger-Kaczorowski, showing that under the Riemann hypothesis for the Riemann zeta function there exist infinitely many non-isomorphic arithmetical semigroups with \(L(1,\chi)=0\) for at least one of the associated \(L\)-functions. Further results show that, in general, the coefficients of \(L\)-functions associated with arithmetical semigroups can be almost arbitrary, the only restriction being an upper bound of type \((O(n^\theta)\), for some \(\theta<1\). In particular, the analog of the Ramanujan hypothesis fails in general. The main idea in the proof of the above results is the use of certain modifications of structural mappings and arithmetical semigroups.
