Construction of monotone numerical schemes for a class of nonlinear elliptic and initial value problems for parabolic equations are investigated in this paper. First linear elliptic problems are discretized by monotone schemes and then the nonlinear elliptic part of the equation can be solved by iteration of certain linear elliptic operator that is closely connected to the nonlinear one. The numerical schemes are derived from general principle which ensures the convergence of approximate solutions under assumptions on elliptic operator and right had side of the equation. The elliptic operator must be in the divergence form with measurable coefficients satisfying the strict ellipticity condition and the right hand side is a positive Radon measure. The main feature of these schemes is that they posses stencil stretching far from basic grid-rectangles, thus leading to system matrices which are related to M-matrices. Finally two numerical examples, nonlinear elliptic and nonlinear parabolic are included using proposed schemes in two space dimensions.
