Let \(R\) be a Riemann surface and \(F:R\to\mathbb{R}^3\) a minimal immersion. By using the known Weierstrass representation \[ F(p)=\text{Re}\biggl[\int^p_{p_0} \bigl((\frac{1}{g}-g)\eta,\;i(\frac{1}{g}+g)\eta,\;2\eta\bigr)\biggr] \] with \(p_0\), \(p\in R\), where \(g\) denotes a meromorphic function on \(R\) and \(\eta\) a meromorphic differential on \(R\), the author constructs some new examples of minimal surfaces of higher genus with finite total curvature. Roughly speaking, these minimal surfaces arise from the catenoid by adding saddles and embedded ends. Dependent on the number and kind of ends and the number of saddles, he considers explicit terms for \(g\) and \(\eta\). For a suitable choice of the parameters occurring in these terms, the author shows that the real part of the periods of the above integral always vanishes, i.e., the mapping \(F\) is well-defined.
