Let \(G=Sp(4,q)\) where q is odd. The author studies the 2-modular representations of G. He classifies the 2-blocks of G and describes a bijection between the set of 2-blocks of G and the set of conjugacy classes of semisimple elements of odd order in the dual group \(G^*\). He finds the decomposition numbers of G, except for some ambiguities in the case of the principal block. His results show that if a block B corresponds to a semisimple element \(s\in G^*\), then B and the principal block b of the group \(C_{G^*}(s)^*\) have isomorphic defect groups, the same number of irreducible Brauer characters, and the same number of ordinary irreducible characters of height i for each i. Furthermore, B and b have the same decomposition matrix and Cartan invariants. His method uses the explicitly known character table of G.
