The authors consider the Schrödinger equation in the case when the Hamiltonian is given by a quadratic form in the space and dual variables, an example being the quantum harmonic oscillator. The novelty of the paper, with respect to preceding contributions, is the addition of a perturbation given by a negative order pseudodifferential operator in the classes of \textit{M. A. Shubin} [Pseudodifferential operators and spectral theory. Transl. from the Russian by Stig I. Andersson. 2nd ed. Berlin: Springer (2001; Zbl 0980.35180)]. The authors provide a formula for the solution of the Cauchy problem, by using metaplectic and Fourier integral operator techniques. The analysis presents some relevant aspects. Namely, the authors obtain, as a byproduct of the construction, a new notion of Lagrangian distribution in the Shubin framework. Moreover, very precise results of propagation of singularities are given in terms of the Gabor wave front set of \textit{L. Rodino} and \textit{P. Wahlberg} [Monatsh. Math. 173, No. 4, 625--655 (2014; Zbl 1366.42030)].
