The present paper constructs new elements in the stable homotopy of spheres and Moore spaces. If \(p\) is a prime, \(p\geq 7,\;q=2(p-1)\), the author constructs an element of order \(p\) in degree \(p^nq+p^mq+q-4\) in the stable homotopy of spheres for \(n\geq m+2\geq 4\), and similarly in degree \(p^nq+p^mq+q-3\) for the stable homotopy of a Moore space with group \(\mathbb Z/p\). The methods might now be called classical. There is no Morava \(k\)-theory, formal groups, etc. Rather the author makes extensive calculations in the Adams spectral sequence, with Ext groups. Except for a reference to [\textit{R. Cohen}, Odd primary families in stable homotopy theory. Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 242 (1981; Zbl 0452.55009)], which is related to the present work, one might call the present paper ``algebraic''.
