The dynamics of many processes in physics, population dynamics, biology and medicine may be subject to abrupt changes. These perturbations may be seen as impulses. For instance, in the periodic treatment of some diseases, impulses correspond to the application of a drug treatment or a missing product. In environmental sciences, impulses correspond to seasonal changes of the water level of artificial reservoirs. Their models may be described by impulsive differential equations. The mathematical study of boundary value problems for differential equations with impulses was considered in 1960 by \textit{V. D. Mil'man} and \textit{A. D. Myshkis} [``On the stability of motion in the presence of impulses'' (in Russian), Sib. Math. J. 1, 233--237(1960)]. Various mathematical results (existence, asymptotic behavior, etc.) can already be found in the literature (cf. [\textit{V. Lakshmikantham, D. Bainov} and \textit{P. S. Simeonov}, Theory of impulsive differential equations. Singapore etc.: World Scientific (1989; Zbl 0719.34002); \textit{D. Bainov} and \textit{P. Simeonov}, Impulsive differential equations: periodic solutions and applications. Harlow: Longman Scientific \& Technical. New York, NY: John Wiley \& Sons, Inc. (1993; Zbl 0815.34001); \textit{D. Bainov} and \textit{V. Covachev}, Impulsive differential equations with a small parameter. Singapore: World Scientific (1994; Zbl 0828.34001); \textit{A. M. Samoilenko} and \textit{N. A. Perestyuk}, Impulsive differential equations. Singapore: World Scientific (1995; Zbl 0837.34003); \textit{N. A. Perestyuk} et al., Differential equations with impulse effects. Multivalued right-hand sides with discontinuities. Berlin: de Gruyter (2011; Zbl 1234.34002)]). During the period of 1923--1925, Harald Bohr introduced fundamental results of the theory of almost periodic functions with applications to difference and differential equations. The first definitions of almost periodic solutions for impulsive differential equation where published by Halanay and Wexler. Also, some interesting results on the subject were obtained by Perestyuk and Samoilenko, Hekimova and Bainov, Bainov, Myshkis, Dishliev, and the author, etc. This book comprising 217 pages consists of four chapters and one appendix. In Chapter 1, the author presents a general description of impulsive differential equations, existence and uniqueness, piecewise continuous Lyapunov functions, almost periodic sequences and almost periodic functions. Chapter 2 is devoted to proving existence and uniqueness of almost periodic solutions of hyperbolic and perturbations problems with impulsive differential equations. Some questions related to the separated solution and almost periodic solutions as well as stability and existence of almost periodic solutions of impulsive differential equation in Banach space are treated. In Chapter 3, the author applies the method of Lyapnov functions with pulse action to prove the existence of almost periodic solutions of impulsive differential equation with delay and time varying delays. Chapter 4 is concerned with applications of the theory of almost periodicity to impulsive biological models, Lotka-Volterra models, and neural networks. Finally, an extensive bibliography on the subject containing 202 items is presented. This interesting monograph written by a known specialist in the field is addressed to a wide audience, not only mathematicians, but also engineers, biologists and physicists.
