    Many studies of wave patterns in excitable media have been conducted, with the spiral pattern being a typical one. Here, the authors investigate the spiral wave in an unbounded excitable medium, using a wave front interaction model, which consists of two systems of ordinary differential equations, describing the front wave and the back wave, respectively. The spiral wave is studied as a thick region and the global existence and uniqueness of the back wave is shown. The wave's asymptotic behavior at infinity is also investigated.
