The authors offer a complete classification of the large time behavior of the free boundary position for a free boundary problem posed for a reaction-diffusion equation in a one-dimensional interval whose boundary consists of a fixed end-point and a moving one. Homogeneous Dirichlet conditions apply at the fixed boundary, while the dynamics of the moving boundary is governed by the Stefan condition. As the main result, it is shown that large-time behavior of solutions can be classified into three types: vanishing, small spreading and big spreading. Sufficient conditions are provided for special cases.
